I stumbled upon a vegan bakery the other day and thought I would treat myself to some cookies (which is rare) and support the biz. I paid $5 bucks for 2 small cookies. They were SO sweet and left me feeling groggy and tired the next morning. Sugar hangover.
That’s why I wanted to share this recipe with you guys. It’s easy, relatively healthy and really delicious. Better yet there is no sugar added (minus the chocolate chips) and they are very cheap to make. (more…)
Hill sprints are a huge part of my leg routine. I love them! They are not only great for building strength and muscle, they are also a great cardio workout that raises your heart rate and helps to burn fat! (more…)
Dips. We all do them, but most people think they only help develop the triceps. In this video, I show you how you can make a simple body weight dip work your upper chest and get you more muscle definition in the upper body. Go hard, use proper form and tell me what you think! (more…)
Hey everyone! Happy weekend.. I hope you are all enjoying it with the ones you love most!
I have another great ab workout for you all, but with that being said, it isn’t an easy one. You really want to make sure you have a strong and flexible lower back for this one. It looks a lot harder than it seems. (more…)
These delicious energy bites are my go to creation to have on hand for a quick snack during the day. I teach a nutrition workshop to at risk youth and they love the taste of these as well as being involved in helping to make them. (more…)
With the colder weather upon us, its nice to have comfort food around. One thing I miss having around is granola. The stuff that is sold in stores just doesn’t cut it for me.. it’s high in processed sugar and, if you are lucky, might have some dried fruit or seeds added to it, but we all know they never add enough, or it all sinks to the bottom. When I started drinking smoothies, I didn’t realize the WAY I was drinking them could be harming my digestion! Did you know that? After hearing people talk about chewing their smoothies, I thought I would give it a go. Here is a video with my thoughts and how chewing my smoothies has made me feel. (more…)
Tofu scramble for breakfast or for lunch? Why not when ever you want? I made this tofu scramble last week for lunch, and it was amazing. If you like (or liked) scrambled eggs, firm tofu is a great alternative to use! Not only does it pack a protein punch, but it has no cholesterol or added fat, making it a way healthier choice than eggs. I don’t always tofu, but when I do, I always go firm! Firm tofu crumbles easily and has a texture (when cooked) that is similar to scrambled eggs. You can freeze it prior to use to give it even more texture, too (I used it straight outta the fridge). I love going down to the work out bars I live close to. So many fun pieces of equipment to do different exercises on. The video below shows me doing one of my favourite movements that I go to when I feel that my workout is losing momentum. It’s great to have a few of these fun, more aerobic movements that you can do when you start losing steam or focus to bring the energy back up! The monkey bars help, too! Anyone have any other movements or exercise I should try? Let me know!
Get that upper pec pumped up!
I try not to focus on single areas too much, but this movement is too good for that! Make sure to have your workout rings the same height (if they are adjustable), and always do a warm up before you start working out!
How to perform this workout:
Perform a ‘normal’ push up motion while holding on to your rings, when at the top of the push up movement, cross your arms over and squeeze like you are giving yourself a bear hug. It’s harder than it looks and I can guarantee you will feel it the next day!
The goal of a Holistic Nutritionist is to “catch health” rather than “chase disease” – as most other professionals in the health industry do. Holistic Nutritionists work with individual clients and treat them as a whole, rather than just treat the symptom. (more…)
